Lege Miami Apologises to Stanley Nwabali

Lege Miami apologises to Stanley Nwabali for referencing his late father, stressing his comments aimed to critique on-field performance, not insult

Content creator and actor Lege Miami has issued a public apology to Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali after referencing the footballer’s late father in a social media post.

In his apology, Lege Miami explained that his intention was to critique Nwabali’s on-field performance, not to disrespect his late father. He wrote:

“First, I am sorry I mentioned your late dad that made you upset, but you don’t like listening to corrections. When they correct you, you like to act like a big man on the pitch. Your hanky-panky on the pitch is too much.

You are supposed to give your colleagues courage, but you play with the ball inside the box. You do a lot of mistakes, we are trying to correct you.”

The exchange followed Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after losing to DR Congo in the African playoff, a result that drew criticism of the national team and its players.

Previously, Nwabali had warned Lege Miami to stop referencing his late father in online commentary, stating that such remarks were inappropriate.

The apology appears to calm tensions, though debates continue over the limits of social media commentary and the balance between critique and respect in public discourse.
