The announcement was made by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who confirmed that the 21 year old influencer was issued a Ghanaian passport after the government verified what it described as his irrefutable ties to the country.

According to the minister, the decision aligns with Ghana’s Beyond the Return initiative, a flagship programme aimed at strengthening bonds with the African diaspora and encouraging people of African descent to formalise their connection with the country.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said the approval followed a series of engagements that highlighted IShowSpeed’s growing relationship with Ghana and the wider African continent, shaped largely through cultural immersion and public engagement.

In a statement, the minister said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had approved the passport issuance after confirming the streamer’s ties, describing the move as consistent with Ghana’s long standing outreach to the diaspora.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also praised IShowSpeed for projecting Ghana and Africa positively to a global audience, calling him a fitting and influential ambassador for the continent.

The YouTuber recently concluded his Africa Tour, which began on December 29, 2025, and took him to 20 countries across the continent.

Throughout the tour, IShowSpeed used his livestreams to showcase African culture, tourism, technology and daily life to more than 50 million subscribers on YouTube, a reach that officials say has helped counter negative stereotypes and reshape global perceptions.
