In a recent appearance on the Tea With Tay podcast, hosted by Taymesan, the Oleku hitmaker criticised the industry for forgetting his achievements and pioneering status.

“The first African artist to go on a BET stage and collect the BET award. Selfless credit here,” Ice Prince said. “I’ve done so many things for Nigeria, for Africa, but people always disrespect or sleep on me.”

He also reflected on his departure from Chocolate City, the record label that propelled him to stardom. Unlike some other artists, he exited without conflict.

“I am probably one of the only artists in the world who left his label with no drama,” he stated. “Pretty much, there was drama with everybody else. You just hear some drama.”

Despite his disappointment, Ice Prince insisted that accolades were never his motivation. “I don’t make music for accolades or respect. I don’t even like titles like ‘legend’ or ‘OG.’ Music is beyond awards to me.”
