Award-winning filmmaker Funke Akindele has appealed to fans to respect her latest film, Behind The Scenes, by refraining from recording or sharing clips online.

The appeal comes following the film’s release in cinemas on December 12, 2025, and underscores the potential harm piracy can inflict on box office success.

Akindele, who described the movie as inspired by a divine message, features a talented cast including Tobi Bakre, Iyabo Ojo, Scarlet Gomez, and Ini Dima-Okojie.

She emphasised that sharing unauthorised footage undermines the hard work invested in the production.

“Say no to direct and indirect piracy. Hello my beautiful fans. We’re super excited that Behind The Scenes is showing in cinemas, but please let’s say a big no to recording any scenes in the cinema. Recording or posting clips, even short ones, is piracy,” Akindele wrote.

The filmmaker encouraged fans to enjoy the film responsibly, adding that taking photos at promotional roll-up banners and sharing reviews is permitted, but unauthorised recordings should be avoided.

She urged audiences to share the message widely to support the team behind the production.

Behind The Scenes explores the realities and emotional challenges of success and fame, offering a cinematic glimpse into the struggles behind public achievements.
