FOLA gifts mum car after fulfilling her two biggest wishes, completing a promise that began when his music career started gaining momentum
Nigerian Afrobeats singer FOLA has gifted his mother a car, fulfilling the second of two requests she made after his music career began to gain momentum, following his earlier purchase of land in Ibadan where she built her own church.
FOLA shared the emotional milestone on social media, explaining that he had asked his mother what she wanted when things started improving for him financially.
According to the singer, his mother gave him two simple but meaningful requests: a church building and a specific car.
“When things started to align, I randomly asked my mother what she wanted and she said she wanted her own church building and this specific car,” FOLA wrote.
He said the latest gift marked the completion of both requests.
“I thank God for keeping this running long enough for me to say I’ve done both things,” he added.
The gesture carries particular significance because of the very different circumstances from which FOLA’s music journey began.
Before finding wider success as an artist, FOLA worked as a Bet9ja cashier in Ibadan while continuing to pursue music.
During those early years, his mother remained a strong source of encouragement, repeatedly assuring him that he would eventually become a star.
Her belief in his potential continued even when his career had yet to gain significant public attention.
FOLA previously used some of his first major earnings from music to purchase a plot of land for his mother in Ibadan. She subsequently built her own church on the property, completing the first of the two wishes she had shared with her son.
The car therefore represents more than a luxury gift. For FOLA, it is the fulfilment of a promise made during a period when his eventual success was far from certain.
The singer’s career has since taken a remarkable turn.
He rose to prominence with his hit single Alone before attracting further attention through collaborations with artists including Ayra Starr, Wizkid, BNXN, Zlatan, Victony and DJ Tunez.
FOLA is signed to Dangbana Republik and Empire and released his debut studio album, Catharsis, in September 2025.
His growing profile has transformed the circumstances surrounding his family, but his latest gesture suggests that his mother remains central to how he views his success.
The decision to fulfil her requests also reflects a recurring theme in FOLA’s public story: gratitude towards the woman who supported his ambitions before the wider music industry recognised his talent.
The car presentation has since attracted praise from fans, many of whom have applauded the singer for remembering his mother’s sacrifices as his career continues to rise.
For FOLA, however, the significance appears to lie less in the value of the car than in what it represents.
After years of encouragement, uncertainty and hard work, the singer can now look back at two wishes his mother once made and say that he has fulfilled both.
