The programme, officially called the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF), offers loans of up to ₦10 million to eligible academic and non-academic staff.

Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa made the announcement through a statement released by the ministry.

Loans will be capped at 33.3% of an applicant’s gross annual salary and can be used for critical needs like transportation, medical bills, or small businesses such as poultry farming.

The Tertiary Staff Loan will be managed by the Bank of Industry to ensure fair and transparent disbursement.

This support scheme is part of a broader government effort to reposition the education sector, improve staff welfare, and promote long-term professional growth.

Earlier in April 2025, the government released ₦50 billion to settle outstanding earned allowances for university workers, reinforcing its pledge to prioritize the education workforce.
