The memoir, which became globally available today, August 18, 2025, was unveiled at a high-profile event in London and is now on sale in major bookstores and online platforms such as makingitbigbook.com and Dymocks.

In Making It Big, Otedola pulls back the curtain on his meteoric rise — from humble roots to becoming a billionaire at just 41.

With chapters spanning oil and gas, shipping, power, finance, and philanthropy, the book is as much a personal story as it is a blueprint for navigating Africa’s business terrain.

At its core, the memoir is a powerful call to action: dream big, take risks, and transform crises into catalysts for reinvention.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the WTO, praised the book as “a rare documentation of an African entrepreneur’s journey — filled with lessons for generations to come.”

Fellow industrialist Aliko Dangote and AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina also endorsed the book, hailing it as both inspirational and practical.

“This is my way of giving back,” Otedola stated. “I want African youth to know that with resilience and vision, greatness is within reach.”

Beyond profit, Otedola writes extensively about philanthropy, identity, and legacy.

He shares stories of personal reinvention, heavy losses, and giving back — from funding education and healthcare to powering Nigeria’s economy through Geregu Power PLC and FirstHoldCo PLC.
