The controversy emerged after Evans Okoro’s name reportedly appeared on a list of Nollywood stars allegedly gossiped about by Ekene to a UK-based Nigerian nurse, Adanma Waller.

In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page, Evans Okoro expressed disbelief at the allegations and demanded that Ekene Umenwa clarify the situation.

Evans Okoro said: “E get something wey I see for social media right now. My name dey for one list; dem talk say Evans Okoro carry one thing for body wey dey heavy people for mouth to talk. Ekene Umenwa, you add me for your list? Is that what you said, or the devil just wants to use una bring me down?”

She added that if the claim was true, divine punishment should fall on the responsible party, but if it was fabricated, those spreading the falsehood should be held accountable, emphasising that her mother is deeply upset by the allegations.

This incident follows a separate controversy in which Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko publicly criticised Ekene Umenwa for allegedly accusing her of assaulting her mother.

The recurring disputes have intensified scrutiny of professional conduct and gossip within the Nollywood industry.
