Nigerian media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has opened up about his long battle with smoking addiction, revealing that he smoked heavily for 13 years before eventually overcoming the habit.

Speaking during a recent episode of the MENtality programme alongside singer Banky W and social media influencer Aproko Doctor, Ebuka disclosed that he began smoking while in junior secondary school and later became dependent on cigarettes during his university years.

Ebuka smoking addiction revelation drew attention after the television host admitted that he was consuming as many as two packs of cigarettes daily at the peak of his addiction.

According to Ebuka, quitting smoking required deliberate effort and self discipline, adding that the process was far from easy despite his determination to stop.

Banky W also shared personal experiences during the conversation, revealing that he once struggled with pornography addiction while attempting to overcome promiscuity.

The singer explained that he initially believed turning to pornography would help him avoid unhealthy relationships, but later realised he had simply replaced one addiction with another.

Aproko Doctor, known for discussing health and wellness issues online, argued that many harmful addictions are rooted in emotional escapism and the human desire to avoid pain.

The discussion further highlighted self regulation, emotional awareness and personal growth as powerful tools in overcoming destructive habits and addiction.
