Doris Ogala Opens Up on Marriage Breakdown and Loss

Doris Ogala marriage ended in 2022 after the actress revealed that more than 10 miscarriages contributed to the collapse of her relationship

Nollywood actress and African Action Congress (AAC) 2027 Abia State governorship candidate Doris Ogala has opened up about the collapse of her marriage, revealing on a podcast in Nigeria on 20 August 2026 that she experienced more than 10 miscarriages before the relationship ended in 2022.

Ogala made the emotional disclosure during an appearance on The Clarity Zone, hosted by media personality Nedu Wazobia, while discussing her personal life and what her marital status could mean if she eventually becomes Abia State governor.

Asked who would occupy the position of “first man” of Abia State if she won the governorship election, Ogala explained that she was currently single and briefly recounted the events that preceded her marriage.

“I’m single now,” she said.

“I dated Pastor Chris Okafor from 2017 to 2019 and then I got married. But my marriage still crashed in 2022 because I had over 10 miscarriages.”

The revelation offers a deeply personal explanation for a marriage that ended several years ago, while also highlighting the difficult experience the actress says she endured during that period.

Ogala previously dated Pastor Chris Okafor, founder and leader of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, also known as Liberation City. According to her account, the relationship lasted from 2017 to 2019 before she subsequently entered marriage.

Her disclosure of more than 10 miscarriages is the most striking element of the interview, bringing an intensely private experience into the public conversation surrounding her life and political ambitions.

Ogala is now seeking to transition from entertainment into frontline politics as the AAC’s candidate for governor of Abia State in the 2027 election.

Her political ambition places her personal history alongside a broader public career that has seen her move beyond acting and into political advocacy.

The actress has increasingly used her public profile to discuss issues affecting society, while her decision to contest the Abia governorship adds another significant chapter to her career.

The 2027 contest is expected to attract considerable interest as political parties and candidates begin positioning themselves ahead of the election.

For Ogala, however, her latest disclosure provides a more human perspective on the woman behind the political ambition. Her account shows how personal hardship has formed part of her journey before entering the political arena.

The actress did not provide further details about her former marriage or identify her former husband during the interview. She also did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the miscarriages.

Her comments have nonetheless prompted attention because of the scale of the loss she described and the openness with which she discussed a painful chapter of her life.

Ogala’s account also serves as a reminder that public figures often carry deeply personal experiences behind their public careers. For the actress, the disclosure comes as she prepares for an important political test in Abia State.
