Having earned her degree from the School of Business and Economics at King’s College in 2014, DJ Cuppy returned to the institution to reflect on her journey and impart guidance to students.

She encouraged graduates to embrace pressure as a revealing force and to take decisive action toward their goals.

“Just 11 years ago, I was sitting in the same place as you, graduating from King’s Business School. They say pressure makes diamonds and I agree but I also strongly believe that pressure reveals your true self. Life will never make you feel fully ready, so kickstart the idea and pursue the dream. Action creates clarity. As Afrobeats superstar Davido always says, ‘We rise by lifting others,’” DJ Cuppy told the audience.

She emphasised the importance of supporting peers and communities, urging graduates to extend a helping hand to those following in their footsteps.

“Lift your classmates, lift your colleagues, lift your community, lift the people standing where you once stood. Congratulations, thank you,” she said.

The speech, which has since gone viral online, was accompanied by a social media post in which DJ Cuppy reflected on the full-circle moment: “In 2014 I graduated from King’s College London. And now in 2026 I delivered the graduation commemoration speech. Full circle moment, I’m still pinching myself.”
