Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Thursday, Okafor expressed frustration over bloggers and social media influencers, accusing them of spreading unverified claims and damaging reputations.

The cleric referenced allegations made in November 2025 by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who accused him of a long-standing relationship and making unfulfilled promises, as well as more serious claims involving her late brother and a burial at his church in Ojodu, Lagos State.

Okafor said the most painful aspect of the situation was being targeted online without a chance to respond, stressing that many bloggers create sensational content purely to attract traffic.

“It is so sad that most of the so-called influencers often connive with people to come up with fabulous lies to attract traffic to their blogs. Many Nigerians have suffered and are still suffering from the lies of bloggers,” he said.

The pastor urged the National Assembly to introduce laws regulating online activity, insisting that offenders should face meaningful penalties to deter further digital abuses.

He also called on cybercrime authorities to intensify efforts in tracking and prosecuting online offenders.
