Speaking to Australia’s 9News, Gates, 70, rejected claims that he hid a sexually transmitted disease from his ex-wife, Melinda French Gates, after alleged contact with “Russian girls.”

He suggested Epstein attempted to defame him, emphasizing that he never visited Epstein’s private Caribbean island and that all meetings were centered on potential scientific ventures.

“Apparently, Jeffrey wrote an email to himself. That email was never sent. The email is false,” Gates stated. He added, “Every minute I spent with him, I regret, and I apologize that I did that.”

Melinda French Gates addressed the situation on NPR’s Wild Card podcast, reflecting on the impact of Gates’s friendship with Epstein on their marriage.

She described the relationship as “muck” and urged that her ex-husband must answer questions about his ties to Epstein.

“For me, it’s personally hard whenever those details come up because it brings back memories of very painful times,” she said. “Whatever questions remain… those questions are for those people and for even my ex-husband. They need to answer to those things, not me.”

Melinda emphasized the societal reckoning prompted by the Epstein files, highlighting the importance of protecting victims.

She stated she has “moved on” from her marriage, now finding herself in a “beautiful place” away from the past difficulties.

Political scrutiny intensifies,
US lawmakers have also called for Gates to testify regarding Epstein connections. Republican congresswoman Nancy Mace of South Carolina confirmed she has written to James Comer, chair of the House oversight committee investigating Epstein, requesting Gates be subpoenaed.
