In a candid interview with Oyinmomo TV, the entertainer admitted she backed Bola Ahmed Tinubu because of the legacy he left as Lagos State governor. However, she now says the reality of his presidency has deeply disappointed her.

She explained that her father, a strong believer in civic participation, encouraged her from a young age to get involved in elections.

“When our current president was the governor of Lagos State, he did well. Even my dad used to say he did well despite what he went through during Obasanjo’s regime,” Aminatu said.

Her belief in Tinubu’s leadership ability extended into private meetings during the campaign.

According to her, the promises made in those settings inspired her to lend her voice and visibility to his candidacy. But after the elections, she felt betrayed by the lack of tangible progress.

No one is too old to learn from experience. I believed in him, but what we got was not what was promised. For that, I am truly sorry.

“That was what prompted me to support him this time around. Later, it was after the elections I had a rethink. What I regret is that we were told that they wanted to renew the hope,” she said.

Now facing the consequences of her public stance, Aminatu issued a heartfelt apology to her fans and the Nigerian public.

“I am taking this opportunity to plead with all Nigerians, including those who love me and those who do not like me. No one is old enough to escape experience, I am sorry,” she said.

“Even if you have known someone for a long time, you need to check them carefully before believing their words.”
