The revelation, made during a Town Square Meeting in Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, has sparked outrage among residents and raised questions about transparency and community service.

Speaking to constituents of Ikono and Ini Federal Constituency, Governor Eno reprimanded some political aides for misrepresenting their earnings and misleading the public about their welfare.

“Hear me well, no PA earns less than a million naira.

And when they want to talk, they will say it is a stipend.

You call ₦1m a stipend? ₦1m is not a stipend to me, it is serious money,” Eno said emphatically.

The governor used the occasion to promote Blessed Essien, his PA on Protocol, to Special Assistant on Public Works after Essien personally funded a borehole and water reticulation project for his village.

Eno described him as a model for responsible public service.

“One man has done this, but some of them with political appointments are still lying to their people that the governor has done nothing,” he added.

To foster greater accountability, Governor Eno directed the Secretary to the State Government to publish the names of all political appointees by local government area.

He called on citizens to challenge their PAs, SAs, SSAs, and Commissioners to show what they’ve done for their communities.

The announcement has fueled both public praise for Essien’s gesture and criticism toward other aides accused of doing little despite earning substantial salaries.
