AFRIMA 2025 nominees list is out with Davido, Burna Boy, Shallipopi, and Ayra Starr leading a record-breaking 10,717 entries

AFRIMA 2025 nominees have officially been revealed, featuring a historic number of entries and a powerful mix of legendary names and rising stars.

The All-Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC), released the full list ahead of the November awards ceremony.

This year’s nominations followed a record 10,717 entries—the highest in the award’s 12-year history.

A 13-member International Jury shortlisted 343 nominees across 40 categories, representing all five African regions and the diaspora.

Nigeria’s Burna Boy and Davido each earned five nominations, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year.

South Africa’s DJ Maphorisa and Morocco’s El Grande Toto matched them with five nods apiece.

Rising acts also made bold statements:

Shallipopi secured four nominations, including Artiste of the Year
Ayra Starr and Rema are up for major categories including Artiste of the Year
Tyla, Uncle Waffles, and Juma Jux each scored four nominations

From North Africa, Egypt’s Amr Diab earned four nods, while Côte d’Ivoire’s Himra and Didi B got three each. Congo’s Fally Ipupa and Ferre Gola also earned multiple nominations.

On the female side, Mia Guissé (Senegal) and Moliy (Ghana) earned five nominations each, cementing the influence of women on Africa’s music scene.

AFRIMA 2025 also shines a global spotlight on African talent in the diaspora with nominees like Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, Darkoo, and Zaho.

Public voting opens globally on September 10, 2025, and will run until November 30, the eve of the main event. Voting takes place on [AFRIMA’s official website] (https://afrima.org).
