Nigerian music star Innocent Ujah Idibia, known professionally as 2Baba, and Nollywood actress Annie Macaulay Idibia have reportedly refollowed each other on social media, reviving fresh speculation about a possible reconciliation between the former couple.

The reported 2Baba Annie refollow has quickly attracted attention among fans, particularly because the pair’s marriage ended publicly after more than a decade together and amid years of intense public interest in their relationship.

However, the latest development should be treated cautiously. The reported change in their social-media connection has not been independently confirmed through a direct statement from either 2Baba or Annie in the sources reviewed for this report.

The timing is particularly significant because similar reconciliation claims circulated less than a month ago. On 17 July, old footage showing the former couple sharing an affectionate moment at a Lagos nightclub resurfaced online, prompting renewed speculation that they had found their way back to each other.

Annie subsequently rejected the claims. In an Instagram Story reported by The Guardian and PUNCH, she wrote: “Old videos circulating everywhere, false news everywhere.”

She later went further, making her position unmistakable. According to Legit.ng, Annie wrote that she was single and was “not going back anywhere”, while saying that her two daughters and her career were her priorities.

2Baba also responded to the viral footage, dismissing it in similarly direct terms. “Abeg na old video o,” he wrote on Instagram, according to Legit.ng.

That exchange is important context for the latest refollow reports. A renewed online connection may suggest a more cordial relationship, co-parenting communication or simply a change in social-media boundaries. On its own, however, it does not establish that the former spouses are romantically reunited.

The pair’s relationship has remained a powerful subject of public interest because of its long history.

Annie and 2Baba began their relationship years before their marriage, welcomed two daughters, Isabella and Olivia, and married in 2012, with their high-profile white wedding following in Dubai in 2013. Their relationship subsequently became one of Nigeria’s most closely watched celebrity unions.

The marriage formally entered a new chapter in January 2025 when 2Baba announced that he and Annie had separated and had filed for divorce. “Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while and have filed for divorce,” he said in the announcement.

Months later, 2Baba explained that the marriage had ultimately become unsustainable despite efforts to save it. He described Annie as an “amazing” woman while arguing that couples should not be compelled to remain in relationships that no longer work.

“If a marriage is not working, the couple should try to fix it. But if it still doesn’t work, no one should be forced to stay,” 2Baba said.

The singer subsequently began a relationship with Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru. He publicly declared his love for Osawaru in February 2025 and expressed his desire to marry her, while insisting that she had not caused the breakdown of his marriage to Annie.

That relationship later became a marriage. Osawaru publicly referred to 2Baba as her husband, while reports in July 2025 documented their private traditional wedding ceremony.

As recently as July 2026, reporting continued to describe Osawaru as 2Baba’s wife. She also remained publicly active in her political career, including securing the Nigeria Democratic Congress nomination for the Egor constituency in May.

Against that backdrop, any genuine reconciliation between 2Baba and Annie would represent a significant development rather than a routine social-media update.

There has nevertheless been evidence of a continuing family connection. On 14 July, shortly before the latest wave of reunion speculation, 2Baba shared moments with his children, including Annie’s daughters Isabella and Olivia, alongside his sons with Pero Adeniyi.

He was also photographed with his children at a Lagos comedy event on 26 July, reinforcing the distinction between maintaining a relationship with his children and speculation about rekindling a relationship with their mother.

For fans, the reported 2Baba Annie refollow has understandably reopened an emotional chapter that many had considered closed.

Some social-media users have interpreted the development as a hopeful sign, while others have urged the public to allow the former couple to determine the nature of their relationship privately.

For now, the most defensible reading is that the online connection, if confirmed, signals at most a possible thaw between two people with a long shared history.

It does not, by itself, overturn Annie’s emphatic July denial or establish that she and 2Baba are rebuilding their marriage.
