In a viral video circulating online, the pastor argued that the religion was imposed on Africans by colonial missionaries who, according to him, looked down on indigenous traditions.

Adegboyega claimed that missionaries conditioned Africans to view Christianity as superior to their traditional beliefs.

“The white man came to Africa and told us he was sending a bigger religion. When the white man came to Africa to introduce his religion and colonise us, he inserted ‘slaves obey your masters’ in his Bible to trick us into submission. Christianity is a social construct,” he said.

He further questioned certain Christian doctrines, alleging that some teachings were structured to control social behaviour.
