Seun Kuti Wizkid feud escalates as Afrobeat star condemns musician for insulting his wife during social media clash

Seun Kuti, Afrobeat singer and son of the late Fela Kuti, has publicly criticised Nigerian pop star Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid, following an online attack on Kuti’s wife, Yetunde Kuti, amid their ongoing social media feud.

Seun Kuti addressed the matter during a livestream on Tuesday, calling out Wizkid, 35, and his partner, Jada Pollock, 43, for bringing women and children into their dispute.

Kuti described the attack on his wife as “unacceptable” and a violation of respect between men.

“Real men don’t involve women and kids in their beef. Wizkid, who has an older partner, is insulting my wife. You are calling my wife ugly; should I retaliate in kind? Your fans are also attacking my wife and child. But that cannot break me,” Seun Kuti said.

The feud, which began with Seun Kuti’s criticism of Wizkid and his fanbase, has intensified in recent weeks, drawing widespread attention on social media.

Kuti urged Wizkid to focus on personal growth, suggesting that the singer is struggling with his identity.

“I know you are depressed fam. What you need to do, Wizkid, is rediscover yourself, to become Wiz, Kid, or Big Wiz… You don’t have an identity is it Big Wiz? Is it Wizkid? Is it Biggest bird? You are still copying me,” Kuti stated.

Despite the intensity of the exchange, Seun Kuti emphasised resilience, expressing a desire for his child to learn strength from the ordeal.

Observers note that the incident highlights tensions between established Afrobeat icons and contemporary Nigerian pop stars while shining a light on social media’s role in amplifying celebrity disputes.
