Nkubi Reveals Struggles With Stigma and Family Harassment

Nkubi on stigma: Nollywood actor Victor Udochukwu Nwaogu reveals challenges facing him and his family due to dwarfism and societal prejudice

Victor Udochukwu Nwaogu, popularly known as Nkubi, has candidly shared the discrimination and societal stigma he has faced because of his stature, revealing how these experiences shaped his career in Nollywood.

In a recent podcast interview, Nkubi on stigma, the actor explained that his difficulties in securing employment after secondary school prompted him to pursue acting.

He recalled the challenge of finding even minor jobs, which highlighted the reality of being a little person in a society structured around conventional physical norms.

“As a child, you barely understood your reality, but you knew you were different from every regular person. When the reality of being a little person first hit me was when I finished secondary school, and I couldn’t secure minor jobs like others,” Nkubi said.

He also spoke about the online harassment his daughter has faced, as trolls have targeted her for her size.

Although Nkubi and his wife anticipated such reactions, he admitted that the attacks were emotionally painful for the family.

Nkubi’s wife added that a doctor had once advised her to conceive with another man to avoid having a child with dwarfism.

She refused the recommendation, standing firmly by her family and supporting their shared journey.

The actor’s revelations shed light on the persistent prejudice faced by people with dwarfism in Nigeria, highlighting the personal toll of societal bias even as he builds a career and nurtures his family.
