Themed ‘Human trafficking is Organised Crime – End the Exploitation’, the initiative calls for short films of no more than 26 minutes that bring the realities of trafficking and efforts to combat it into sharp focus.

Launched by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Nigeria, the contest aims to empower creatives to become advocates for change.

With trafficking networks continuing to exploit vulnerable migrants under the guise of better opportunities abroad, IOM hopes to counter the narrative with authentic, local storytelling.

“Despite the efforts made by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), organised criminal networks continue to exploit most migrants with false promises of greener pastures abroad,” IOM stated.

Through this contest, IOM offers young talents a platform not only to showcase their creative skills but also to contribute to the national and global movement against human trafficking.

Entrants are expected to present original works that communicate the urgency of ending exploitation and highlight grassroots or institutional efforts addressing the crisis.

Submissions will be judged on the originality of the narrative and the clarity of the anti-trafficking message. The top films will be screened on both local and international platforms, granting winners development opportunities and recognition that could accelerate their careers.

IOM Nigeria sees this contest as more than a competition—it is a call to action. It invites the country’s emerging storytellers to challenge dangerous myths, amplify hidden voices, and redefine public awareness around the crime of trafficking.
