Diddy Faces 20 Years Sentence After Conviction In Trial

Sean Diddy Combs faces up to 20 years in prison after conviction in racketeering trial. Prosecutors seek 5 years; defence wants reduced sentence

Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to appear in a virtual court hearing at 2 p.m. on Tuesday to determine the schedule for his sentencing, following his conviction on two criminal charges in his high-profile racketeering and sex trafficking case.

The meeting, involving Judge Arun Subramanian, the prosecution, and Combs’ defence team, comes just days after the jury returned a mixed verdict.

While Combs was acquitted of the most serious charges—sex trafficking and racketeering—he was convicted of two lesser charges, which could still carry a maximum sentence of 20 years behind bars.

Judge Subramanian had initially proposed a sentencing date of October 3, 2025, but both legal teams have now agreed to accelerate the timeline and will work toward an expedited schedule.

While the final decision rests with the court, the government believes a five-year sentence is appropriate.

Combs remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he has been held since his arrest last autumn.

His request for bail was denied at the close of the trial.

According to court filings, prosecutors are requesting a five-year sentence, citing the gravity of the charges and Combs’ influence.

The defence team, however, is pushing for a lighter sentence of 21 to 27 months, arguing that the acquittals should carry weight in sentencing considerations.

The exact date of sentencing is expected to be finalised following Tuesday’s hearing, but the outcome could significantly shape the future of the music mogul, who has now spent 10 months in detention.
